Montmorency cherries are a specific variety of sour cherry (Prunus cerasus) grown primarily in Michigan, USA — and they've accumulated a significant body of research interest over the past decade for their unusually high concentration of anthocyanins (the antioxidant pigments responsible for their deep red colour) and naturally occurring melatonin.
Cherry Active's concentrate is 100% Montmorency cherry juice — nothing added, nothing diluted — offering a level of bioactive compound concentration that fresh or frozen cherries can't easily match. Research has explored its use in:
- Exercise recovery: The anthocyanins help reduce exercise-induced muscle damage and inflammation, supporting faster recovery after intense training.
