Longman’s Cornish Yarg Nettle — the iconic nettle-wrapped semi-hard cow’s milk cheese, made by Longman’s at their Somerset dairy with vegetarian rennet. Contains milk.

Cornish Yarg is one of the great British cheese revival stories — a recipe dating back to the 17th century, rediscovered in the 1980s and now one of the most recognisable cheeses on a British cheeseboard. The nettles are applied by hand after pressing, and as the cheese matures they develop a distinctive earthy, slightly mushroomy character that contrasts beautifully with the fresh, clean, lightly tangy paste beneath. The texture changes from firm and crumbly at the edge to softer and creamier toward the centre. Brilliant on a cheeseboard with quince paste or a good fruit chutney, or melted over roasted vegetables. A proudly British cheese with real character and a story worth telling.
