Maldon sea salt is one of Britain's most iconic food ingredients — produced on the Essex coast since 1882 by the same family, harvested by hand and dried using traditional methods to produce their distinctive hollow pyramid crystal flakes.
The pyramid shape isn't decorative — it's the natural result of the slow evaporation process Maldon use. Each flake has a larger surface area than conventional salt granules, which means it dissolves more quickly on the tongue and delivers a cleaner, more immediate burst of salt flavour rather than a lingering saltiness. This is why Maldon is a finishing salt rather than a cooking salt — used at the end or at the table where its texture and flavour are preserved.
The flavour itself is mild and clean — no bitterness, no chemical sharpness. Just pure sea salt from the clean estuary waters of the Blackwater, Essex.
Vegan. Single ingredient. No additives, no anti-caking agents.
How to use: Crush between fingertips and sprinkle over dishes just before serving — on eggs, avocado, chocolate desserts, salads, grilled meat or fish, or on freshly baked bread with good butter.
