Oregon grape (Mahonia aquifolium) root is naturally rich in berberine and other isoquinoline alkaloids — compounds with well-documented antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and skin-normalising properties. It's best known for use in chronic skin conditions, particularly psoriasis and eczema, where studies have shown reductions in overproduction of skin cells, inflammation and scaling.
